The Naknek River—named the #1 Rainbow Trout River in Alaska by Fish AK Magazine.
Are you ready for an Alaska luxury vacation? The clear water Naknek River, which begins its 35 mile journey to Bristol Bay from within the massive Katmai National Park and Preserve, host all five species of Pacific salmon along with giant rainbow Trout. Sitting about 14 miles downstream from Naknek Lake and at the confluence of the King Salmon Creek is the Alaska Sportsman’s Bear Trail Lodge. The location of our Alaska luxury vacation lodge allows us to fish for aggressive salmon on our home river right in front of the lodge. These fish are just a short 20 miles from the ocean and are dime bright and very strong. This location also allows us to fish the best spots of the upper part of the river where we find large rainbow Trout feeding behind spawning salmon and out migrating salmon smolt. The Naknek River has a strong run of King salmon and one of the best spots on the river is within sight of our Alaska luxury vacation lodge. The Naknek River also has annual sockeye returns in the millions and has a very strong run of silver salmon. We utilize our boats to access the best spots on the river to catch these species of salmon. Our fly out program takes advantage of our close proximity to the many intimate streams of Katmai National Park that are full of spawning salmon and hungry rainbow Trout. These streams are also in Alaska’s designated Trophy Rainbow Trout area.
