2020 Season Video

October 30, 2020 by Sportsmans Blog

You are here: Alaska Fishing Lodges > 2020 Season Video

At the end of each season we always feel a sense of accomplishment.  This year that feeling was magnified tremendously.  We at Alaska Sportsman’s Lodge want to thank all of the clients that visited us during these trying times in the summer of 2020.  We made the choice to open up and operate starting in late June. With a lot of hard work, dedication to protocols, and some luck, we were able to pull off a season and provided our guests with an outlet to escape the situations happening outside of our remote Alaska fishing oasis.  We greatly appreciate the willingness of people to travel, follow testing protocols, and trusting in us to provide a safe and enjoyable experience at ASL.  By doing so, you gave us the opportunity to open for business this season.  Thank you!  We also understand that some that had planned a trip to visit us in 2020 made the choice not to travel. We completely respect and understand that decision and look forward to having you at the lodge in 2021.

It was not an easy task to operate this year and there were many unknowns, but the staff believed in our ability to implement safety protocols for operations.  It was with their encouragement to press forward and open up the lodge that gave me the confidence to do so.  The testing of all clients traveling to the lodge in addition to the fact that the entire ASL staff remained at the lodge for the entire season gave us a strong level of confidence we were able to minimize potential transmission of the virus.  The ladies of our hospitality staff did an amazing job of paying attention to the cleaning details of our facilities and helped to provide that level of confidence that we are as safe as can be at the lodge.  I also want to thank my wife, Serena, and daughter, Dakota, for their unwavering support for me during the difficult decision making process this past spring and throughout the fishing season.

We will be celebrating our 25th year in operation during the 2021 season and are already looking forward to next year.  Thanks again for the support this year. Enjoy a safe winter, and before we know it, our rivers will be opening up and the fishing season will be upon us.
